You identify yourself as a novice to advanced waterman or waterwoman. Recreational competitors compete in division age groups for trophy and gift awards. No prize money. No board length or rudder restrictions.
3. Recreational Under 14’ Fixed
You identify yourself as a novice to advanced waterman or waterwoman. Recreational competitors compete in division age groups for trophy and gift awards. No prize money. Board length must be 14 feet or under, with a fixed fin system (no steerable rudder).

The ‘Ohana Fun Paddle is a non-timed, non-competitive 3-mile fun paddle designed for all members of the community to get out in the ocean for a good cause. The shorter course is less strenuous, and a great way for paddlers of all skill levels to experience a portion of the legendary Maliko downwind run. No timing chips, no age divisions, just come out and paddle!
$25 entry fee includes a event T-Shirt and a donation to Paia Youth & Cultural Center who graciously hosts the start of this paddle.

Onsite registration available at Maliko Gulch from 9:00 – 11:00am on Saturday and Sunday- cash only.
Onsite registration fee’s are higher than online registration, we recommend registering ahead of time online as the race will sell out. Register before Midnight (PST) on APRIL 15th 2018 to receive the complimentary premium race package.
Lu‘au tickets available at Kanaha Beach Park from 1:00 – 3:00pm Saturday and Sunday – cash only $10/person. No refunds.

Free Shuttle Service
To further help you enjoy the 10th Annual OluKai Ho‘olaule‘a, we would like to introduce the OluKai Ho‘olaule‘a Ho‘o Holo Holo, a complimentary shuttle service for racers and their equipment from Kanaha Beach Park to Maliko on Saturday April 28th and Sunday, April 29th.
The Details:
- The Ho‘o Holo Holo and More Water Time Shuttle service is complimentary for reacers and will be using padded trailers.
- Racers will load and unload their own boards with assistance from our drivers.
- The busses will travel with the loaded trailers.
- A complimentary bag will be provided in which to place personal effects, if needed. These bags may be left at a secure Bag Drop area in Maliko and picked up at the complimentary OluKai slipper tent at Kanaha
- Ho‘o Holo Holo will depart promptly in order to get everyone to Maliko in time for Registration and the Pre-Race Briefing.
We are providing this complimentary service to eliminate the need for anyone to drive their personal cars into Maliko to avoid traffic jams and stress to spouses, parents and friends. We ask that anyone not using the complimentary Ho‘o Holo Holo shuttles please car-pool with 4 or more participants.
